Visita de Joe Terrasi/ Joe Terrasi's Visit

Hace dos semanas, nos visitó Joe Terrasi por segundo año consecutivo. Joe Terrasi es el Entrenador Principal del Positive Coaching Alliance, una organización estadounidense cuya meta es hacer de los deportes juveniles una experiencia positiva para enseñar valores importantes como el respeto, la resiliencia y la ética. https://www.positivecoach.org/

La misión del Positive Coaching Alliance es "transformar la cultura del deporte juvenil en una Zona de Desarrollo en la cual todos los atletas de edad escolar tengan una experiencia positiva, que les fortalezca el carácter, lo cual resultará en mejor rendimiento y mejores personas."

Para que la ABC pueda trabajar con esta misión en mente, es esencial que haya un alto nivel de involucramiento por parte de nuestra comunidad. Durante su visita, Joe se reunió con los miembros del Concejo Estudiantil, Jefes de Tribu, personal y padres de familia.

Lo más destacado de la visita de Joe ocurrió el miércoles 21 de septiembre, día en que se llevo a cabo una reunión para todos nuestros alumnos de Team Sports y sus padres. En esta reunión, Joe explicó que la alianza entre el colegio y el hogar es vital para el éxito deportivo pero más importante aún, expuso que ser parte de un equipo o practicar un deporte debe tener un propósito mucho más grande que solo ganar cada partido.

La ABC se enorgullece de su compromiso al desarrollo del programa de Team Sports y estamos muy satisfechos de poder seguir trabajando con el Positive Coaching Alliance. Tenemos un plan deacción que se encuentra en desarrollo para poder mejorar nuestro programa de Team Sports y asegurar que sea excelente en todo aspecto.

Two weeks ago, we received a visit from Joe Terrasi for the second year in a row.
Joe Terrasi is a Lead Trainer for the Positive Coaching Alliance, a United States based organization that strives to use youth sports as a positive experience to teach them important values such as respect, resilience and being ethical.  https://www.positivecoach.org/

The Positive Coaching Alliance's mission is "To transform the youth sports culture into a Development Zone where all youth and high school athletes have a positive, character-building experience that results in better athletes and better people .

In help the ABC work with this mission statement, the involvement of all members of our community is essential. During his visit, Joe was able to meet with members of our Student Council, Tribal Chiefs, staff and parents.

One of the highlight of Joe's visit was on Wednesday September 21st, when he hosted an afternoon meeting aimed at all of our Team Sports participants and their parents, to talk about how a school and home partnership is vital for sporting success, but more importantly, that there is much more to playing a sport than just focusing on winning.

The ABC's is proud of its commitment to the development of the Team Sports program and we are looking forward to our next visit from the Positive Coaching Alliance. We have an action plan which we are putting together to help develop our sports programme so it is excellent in every respect.
