The IB Diploma/ El Diploma del Bachillerato Internacional

Today, marks a very important day in the lives of our Grade 12s, as they are finishing with their IB examinations, a program which they have been working on for the last 2 years.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) started in the 1960s as an attempt to create a high school curriculum that would meet the standards of countries across the globe.

Since it started in 1968, the IB has spread to 126 countries and 2,268 schools. In IB, learning is inquiry-based, meaning that the focus is on how students learn rather than what they learn. Added to that is a focus on international mindedness or the idea that students are constantly working to solve global problems and understand other cultures. IB students get the personal satisfaction of completing one of the most rigorous curricular options available to them, promoting the development of responsible and outstanding citizens.

According to the UK's The Telegraph, the IB "is seen as good preparation for higher education, developing the kinds of skills that students will need at university." To see more of this article, please go to this link.

We would like to congratulate the Grade 12s for all their hard work and successful completion of their IB Programme.

In today's world, the Internet has become a necessary tool in our school, work, and social lives. Newer generations can swiftly use all sorts of devices that use an internet connection, which is why monitoring their our activity when we use computers, iPads or phones is crucial. It is particularly important that we monitor our children's activity as there are internet addictions which all of us, should be aware of in order to protect our children. This week we have also been celebrating the Digital Video awards which shows how our children can use the internet in a creative and positive manner. However we as a community do have a shared responsibility to help our children use the internet for learning and creativity but protecting them from dangers.

In order to help parents do this, we had two Parent Partnership Evenings on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th of May. Our "Online Community Protection Project" for Upper Primary Parents. We will be following up with specific sessions to help parents work together as a caring community and understand technical options as well as provide support for their children. Our focus is us as a community and the potential for us to work together as well as the mechanics of the internet and our concerns about it's possible abuse.

One of the purposes of this meeting was to show parents that the internet is an incredibly useful tool if used appropriately, and we are pleased that those who attended displayed such high interest in the topics discussed.

We would like to thank everyone who helped arrange this event, and we would also like to stress the importance of having a 100% attendance rate at our Parent Partnership Evenings, which are of great benefit to our entire ABC community.

IPC Olympics Entry Point/ Entry Point IPC Juegos Olímpicos

Visit from "Ruz" / Visita de "Ruz"

Starting on Thursday April 28th, the PAC turned into Agrabah, the setting in which the beloved plot of Aladdin takes place. This was the story selected for this year's Performing Arts Department musical.

The preparations for the show began in January, starting with auditions and putting together the show piece by piece, with the effort of many ABC community members, form those in charge of production to those working behind the scenes.

We would like to give a huge thank you to the Performing Arts Department for giving us yet another great quality show, which was enjoyed by adults and children alike.
