The IPC, or International Primary Curriculum is used in the ABC for students in Pre-Kinder through Grade 5 , along with the British National Curriculum to ensure that they have the most advantageous learning opportunities possible. The IPC has been designed to ensure rigorous learning but also to help teachers make learning exciting, active and meaningful for children. It takes a global approach, helping children connect their learning to where they live as well as looking at their learning from other people's perspectives. This program is used by schools in more than 90 countries around the world and the ABC is aiming towards receiving an accreditation from this organization.
This week, we had a visit from Helen O'Donoghue, an IPC consultant and trainer who came to see how our school was working towards the goal of becoming IPC accredited. She had a chance to sit in on various lessons and talk to parents, students and teachers about their experience with this program.
She also delivered training to the Primary Leadership Team and milepost co-ordinators relating to leading the IPC, as well as training all subject specialists, such as art, regarding how the school values can be delivered through their subject areas.
In addition she trained all staff in relation to the rigor of their curriculum and other important IPC elements, during a separate session.

Helen was delighted by the ABC , and was especially pleased with our Early Years facilities, which she stated were perfect for our students. Most importantly, she also enjoyed seeing how ABC teachers, parents and students are great ambassadors to the school and how the community works together so pleasantly.

Our school has always taken great pride in the quality of education provided to our students and we are extremely pleased that we are on the right path toward receiving an IPC accreditation.
