En esta época el internet se ha vuelto una herramienta indispensable en nuestras vidas escolares, laborales y sociales. Las nuevas generaciones dominan el uso de todo tipo de dispositivos que se conectan a la red, por lo que es de suma importancia monitorear su actividad a la hora de utilizar computadoras, iPads, teléfonos celulares, etc.

Es por esto, que el miércoles 11 y jueves 12 de mayo se llevó a cabo una Escuela para Padres de Primaria, titulada "Online Community Protection Project" que trató acerca de cómo podemos proteger a nuestros hijos de los peligros del internet, como la pornografía y el sexting, entre otros.
Vamos a tener mas sesiones específicas para ayudar a los padres a trabajar en conjunto como una comunidad, para que estén al tanto de las opciones técnicas a su alcance y que puedan apoyar de mejor manera a sus hijos. Nuestro enfoque es poder trabajar todos como una comunidad y comprender la mecánica del internet y las preocupaciones que existen debido a su abuso.

El propósito de esta reunión era demostrarle a los padres que el internet es una increíble herramienta si se usa correctamente, y estamos complacidos por el interés demostrado por los asistentes.

Agradecemos a quienes ayudaron a organizar este evento y deseamos reiterar la importancia de tener un 100% de asistencia en nuestras Escuelas para Padres, ya que son de gran beneficio para toda la comunidad ABC.

In today's world, the Internet has become a necessary tool in our school, work, and social lives. Newer generations can swiftly use all sorts of devices that use an internet connection, which is why monitoring their our activity when we use computers, iPads or phones is crucial. It is particularly important that we monitor our children's activity as there are internet addictions which all of us, should be aware of in order to protect our children. This week we have also been celebrating the Digital Video awards which shows how our children can use the internet in a creative and positive manner. However we as a community do have a shared responsibility to help our children use the internet for learning and creativity but protecting them from dangers.

In order to help parents do this, we had two Parent Partnership Evenings on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th of May. Our "Online Community Protection Project" for Upper Primary Parents. We will be following up with specific sessions to help parents work together as a caring community and understand technical options as well as provide support for their children. Our focus is us as a community and the potential for us to work together as well as the mechanics of the internet and our concerns about it's possible abuse.

One of the purposes of this meeting was to show parents that the internet is an incredibly useful tool if used appropriately, and we are pleased that those who attended displayed such high interest in the topics discussed.

We would like to thank everyone who helped arrange this event, and we would also like to stress the importance of having a 100% attendance rate at our Parent Partnership Evenings, which are of great benefit to our entire ABC community.
