Today we had a visit from the members of El Salvador's Fencing Team as part of an IPC activity for our 5th Graders. It was great fun for everyone! Some children and faculty members even got the opportunity to try it out themselves...
The children were given a talk about Olympic Values by Geovany Delgado (Coordinador Academia Olímpica), followed by a wonderful demonstration of Fencing from four El Salvadorean Athletes - Ivania Carballo, Gaby Arias, Amanda Moràn and Gaby Carballo. Children and teachers then had the opportunity to practise their fencing skills. It was a very inspiring session for the children, and I hope that many of them have been motivated to have a go at this sport, which clearly has values at its heart, as well as being physically demanding.
